My Dad and my Great Uncle Bob on my Mum’s side have done a great deal of work on my family tree. In one place, I can now trace my linage back 16 generations.

I dont understand how people can just not care about their geneology. Its so facinating to me.

The thing that really got me is not just down the line of my surname, but i also have linage of the Bird’s, the Peck’s, the Hunter’s, Threadingham’s, O’Hara’s, Thatcher’s, Newth’s, Whyte’s, Ogborn’s, Matthews’, Horsell’s, Andrew’s and a few others.

When you have a look at something like this, I really can believe that everyone can be related, in some sense, to everyone else. And this is just the direct line, not even going near siblings and remarriages. It can get very confusing.
